This is where the web is making inroads that it's never made before, in the realm of CRM. Many other types of software have to face quality competition that's free, but CRM suites online are still raking in some cash. They should. They're pretty impressive. Salesforce CRM and Zoho CRM are two of the most popular.
To use SalesForce CRM as an individual, it IS free, but to use it for a business, it costs $60/user/month. Zoho.com offers its CRM software for free to the first 3 users, but after that it's only $12/user/month. The best part of both of these is that there are no downloads required.
There are a few free CRM suites available online, too.
* vTiger.com
* FreeCRM.com
* SaasLight.com
vTiger requires a download. The others don't, and they're fully functional web-based CRM suites. The definitely don't have the customability that SalesForce CRM does, but they work, and they're free.
