Bumping Cash with Paypal
You can now access paypal on your iPhone (and iPad). Soon, paypal plans to offer an app on the Blackberry and Android.
The best (coolest) part about the iPhone app is that it "lets virtual money change virtual hands when two iPhones are tapped together" [called a "bump"] according to CNET. Cool.
Paypal's growth over the last decade is phenomenal. According to trends.builtwith.com, Paypal presently has 41% of the payment distribution market. It will be intriguing to see how that percentage grows with its increased availability and convenience on the phone.
It's also interesting to hear about people who don't use paypal at all. When I want to send $$ to my nieces and nephews overseas, I paypal my brother so that he can hand them the cash in Euros. The transaction fee is a LOT less than postage to Europe and the uncertainty of its arrival there.
Check it out, and Blackberry and Android users, I hope you get to do a little "bumping" with each other and with the iPhone.
