Visual Search Engines combine the best of concept mapping (mind mapping) and combine it with a search engine.
Some visual search engines simply show images.
Others make images out of the websites, so users can get a visual of the site before clicking on it.
However the do it, visual search engines are cool; they're fun; and sometimes you find sites on them that you'd miss otherwise.
Newsmap is one of the more interesting sites I found. The rollover (hover) summary of each headline is an easy way to browse each day's news. Cool site.
